Why worshipping Perth’s cactus could become annual event

The brains behind the iconic ‘Hail the Cactus’ event, that saw thousands of people flock to Forrest Place on the weekend, has called for the City of Perth council to consider making it an annual festival.
Bradley Innes, from the Church of the Cactus described the inaugural gathering as 'iconic' and said it had 'grounded people within the public landscape'.
Mr Innes told the council that “we should exploring ways for the city to work with young people to develop an annual cactus festival”.
Lord mayor Bruce Reynolds congratulated Mr Innes on his success in gaining so many followers saying it was also part of him being a “decent young human being”.
