WA grocery store delivers pointed jab to supermarket giants

A WA grocer has delivered a tongue in cheek jab at major supermarkets while announcing the return of hot cross buns to its shelves. 

In a playful “apology statement” posted to social media, Bunbury Farmers Market declared the cherished Easter treat is officially back one month out from the holiday.

“Bunbury Farmers Market wishes to acknowledge and apologise for any inconvenience and emotional distress,” the business’ post began.

“We understand that some retailers choose to release Hot Cross Buns while Christmas leftovers are still being enjoyed.

The light-hearted post appears to poke fun at the annual hot cross bun debate that erupts when the sweet bread is spotted for sale as early as Boxing Day.
