SW environment and art awards scrapped for being ‘woke’

A South West shire has voted to scrap “woke” environment and art awards. The Shire of Harvey council voted to scrap the awards when a new draft of the shire’s honours and awards policy was presented last month.
It included several new awards that aimed to celebrate and acknowledge significant contributions made by individual residents and community organisations to their communities across the shire.
They included a sporting excellence award, an environmental champion award and an arts excellence award.
