By Rhiannon Lewin and Andrew Hedgman
A light plane has crashed into the ocean off South Australia’s south coast, sparking a major search and rescue operation.
Police said they received reports of the incident in Long Bay near Goolwa South just before 4.30pm on Friday.
Emergency services, including water police, a helicopter, Sea Rescue and three Country Fire Service vehicles, are at the scene near the Murray Mouth.
It’s understood the aircraft went down in front of several witnesses on the bay, with crews now searching for the occupants.
