Parts of WA are set to sweat through a scorching first weekend of 2026 with temperatures expected to climb past 40C.
The Bureau of Meteorology has issued a heatwave warning for the Pilbara, Gascoyne, Goldfields, Eucla, North and South Interior and the Central Wheatbelt.
Harsh heat will hit those areas over the weekend and continue to creep up to the mid forties by the start of next week.
Perth’s metro area is in for a more comfortable weekend with temperatures in the city to hover around the low thirties.
