‘Record breaking’ 1000 students swarm Perth for charity day
By Fraser Williams
Perth workers on their morning commute were swarmed by a record-breaking number of students selling UWA’s charity newspaper PROSH on Wednesday morning.
The satirical charity newspaper is a 95-year-old tradition, led by the University of Western Australia’s guild, that students passionately pitch to pedestrians — and this year they did it wearing bald caps and The Beatles costumes.
One of WA’s longest-running student-led charity traditions, the paper has raised more than $2 million for local not-for-profit organisations, with this years charities of choice, On My Feet and Perth Homeless Support Group, the latest beneficiaries of the student guild initiative.
