London chef makes cooking comeback in Beaconsfield

He’s worked through humble beginnings and a career-threatening car crash and now London’s Drew Dawson is cooking up a storm in Beaconsfield — and quickly cementing himself as one of the biggest names in Perth’s pasta scene.

Dawson recently entered into a long-term collaboration with Beaconsfield Wine Bar to bring a new menu to the already popular destination that had been operating as a pop-up restaurant, Off Licence, since March 2023.

The 28-year-old chef was raised in East London and came to Perth in 2022 after working in fine dining establishments in the UK, Italy, France and Melbourne.

But on a road trip through the Kimberley, Dawson rolled his car six times and his right hand — his knife hand — was crushed between the windscreen and the ground.
