Flash flooding threat as thunderstorms set to batter WA
By Chloe Maher
Parts of inland WA are set to be battered by severe thunderstorms and heavy rain in the coming hours.
The Bureau of Meteorology issued a storm alert at 2.48pm, warning residents in the north and south interior to prepare for a heavy dose of rain that could lead to flash flooding.
“Slow moving showers and thunderstorms are developing within a very humid airmass along a trough lying through the eastern inland of WA,” the warning read.
Emergency WA is advising people in affected parts of the Pilbara to tie down furniture or other loose items, prepare a first-aid kit and review their emergency plan.
