‘Extreme environments’: New species discovered in WA

Have you ever flushed a toilet and seen a frog swirling around? New research has revealed there are three distinct species of “dunny frogs” often found in toilets and sinks.

Dr Renee Catullo from UWA alongside a team of researchers from museums in Queensland, New South Wales, South Australia, Western Australia and Germany made the discovery.

“A lot of people have come across these frogs in the outback, where they often turn up in wet areas like sinks and toilets,” Dr Catullo said.
