Dozens of trees to get chop at city’s oldest golf club

The City of South Perth council has supported removing 39 mature trees as part of the next stage of redevelopment at the city’s oldest golf club.
Royal Perth Golf Club, a private members-only club in South Perth, had asked for council approval of Stage 3 of course redesign works, including moving a maintenance driveway and removing the 39 trees.
Their original application was to remove 76 trees.Councillors Kathy Lees, Andre Brender-A-Brandis and Jacqueline Raison voted against approval at last Tuesday night’s meeting.
Cr Bronwyn Waugh argued this was not a “case of neglect” or “clearing without replacement”.
