Aussie superstar returns to WA for Freo concert

Aussie singer-songwriter May-a says she has no plans of slowing down following a difficult period in her life when she questioned her career due to resenting a “toxic” music industry.

The 24-year-old Sydneysider has been touring the nation this month, and on Friday, she will perform for Perth fans at Freo.Social.

The tour supports her debut album Goodbye (If You Call That Gone), a deeply personal project written over three years while she was on an emotional journey of self-discovery in a bid to reclaim her artistry.

May-a, born Maya Cumming, said the album, released in February, was about a time in her life where she “almost switched life paths”, something she described as a “sliding doors moment”.
